Deep chestnut brown fills the centre of this Nguni hide, with a darker, glossy patch running along the spine and shoulders. Around the edges the colour breaks into fine brown speckles on creamy white, and the speckling thickens toward the hind end, where it forms a dense, flecked fringe. The contrast between the solid brown core and the pale, freckled border is strong, so the rug reads as warm and bold rather than neutral. The pattern is broadly symmetrical from left to right, with matching dark patches near the neck and a small cluster of white flecks at the centre.
